Famous People
ALS/MND affects a huge number of people around the world. Most of those people are not well known outside of their own community. But many are.
In the interests of promoting awareness of ALS/MND, the International Alliance is collecting a list of people who are either well known in their country or well known in their field of endeavour.
We have used the term PALS to represent a person who has been diagnosed with ALS/MND. This is a term used by people with the disease to describe not only their diagnosis, but also their relationship with other people with the diagnosis. The term supporter is used for other famous people who have joined the fight against ALS/MND.
Reading this list will enhance your awareness of the range of people who are engaged or have engaged in the fight against ALS/MND. Some are no longer with us, but the spirit of their fight lives on. If you are aware of a famous person, either in your country or in a specific field of endeavour, who was diagnosed with ALS/MND or is working with people diagnosed with ALS/MND or their Orgnaisations, please contact the Alliance with their name, their relationship to the disease and why they are recognised.
