The Thierry Latran Foundation First Call for Projects 2009
FIRST CALL FOR PROJECTS 2009 The Thierry Latran Foundation, set up under the aegis of Fondation de France, has set itself the following objectives:· to finance basic and clinical scientific research into Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS);· to support academic and pharmaceutical scientific research efforts into this disease in Europe. The Thierry Latran Foundation will initiate the first call for projects for an aggregate amount of € 1 million as from January 5th, 2009; this grant call is aimed at fostering and promoting research in the field of ALS in the following areas:· biological markers ;· pathological pathways and mechanisms;· therapeutic strategies;· innovative molecules. The Scientific Advisory Board will rank each project and application, taking into account their respective scientific merits as well as any issues regarding ethical questions, medical safety and their compatibility with the Foundation’s objectives. Applicants are advised to take into account the aims of the Founder, the Donors, the Executive Committee of the Foundation and of the Scientific Advisory Board to significantly boost and coordinate research into ALS at a European level. The Thierry Latran Foundation has been set up for an initial and renewable period of 10 years, thereby enabling medium and long term support of projects.
The functions of the Scientific Advisory Board are coordinated by Dr Virginie Bros-Facer (PhD), Research Director and General Secretary.
