By Sara Feldman, The ALS Hope Foundation
The ALS Hope Foundation is proud to be a member of the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations! The ALS Hope Foundation was founded in 1999 by Dr. Terry Heiman-Patterson and Dr. Jeffrey Deitch and we joined the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations soon after. By 2004, when the Symposium was held in our home town of Philadelphia, we were truly committed to the global community. Visitors from around the world were invited to visit “The Sanctuary,” the only acute care hospital room with accessibility features fully available to people living with ALS in the United States.
We had the honor of participating in several amazing Partnership Programs.
In 2006 we partnered with ABrELA.
In 2008, we partnered with Iceland MND Association. In 2011, ALSHF partnered with IsrALS.And most recently, in 2017, ALSHF and ALS TDI joined together to bring the International Symposium to Boston! Our commitment to the Alliance continued as Jeffrey Deitch first was elected to the Board of Directors and was Chairman of the International Alliance when he died in 2013.
Sara Feldman joined the Board in 2013 and continues to serve at this time.
We continue to support the Allied Health Professionals Forum and Sara Feldman is honored to be a co-chair of the program.
In 2013, Dr. Jeffrey Deitch was awarded the Humanitarian Award post-humously and in 2015 Dr. Terry Heiman-Patterson was awarded the Forbes-Norris Award.
Our commitment to the International Alliance of A
LS/MND Associations is a part of who we are. We are, and always will be, united in the worldwide fight against ALS/MND.
